Council President Message about Camp Bomazeen

October 22, 2026

A MESSAGE FROM OUR COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Dear Scouting Families, Leaders, and Volunteers,

We have some important news to share about Camp Bomazeen.

On October 21, 2026, Pine Tree Council completed the sale of Camp Bomazeen in Belgrade to 7 Lakes Alliance, a local conservation organization committed to protecting the natural resources and special places of the Belgrade Lakes region.

While the ownership of Camp Bomazeen has changed, its Scouting story is not over.
Through this transaction, the property will be permanently protected, and Scouts will continue to have opportunities to camp there in the years ahead.

For generations, Camp Bomazeen has been a place where young people have learned outdoor skills, developed friendships, built confidence, and experienced the adventure of Scouting. We are pleased that those opportunities can continue.

Pine Tree Council and the 7 Lakes Alliance also reached an agreement with the Bomazeen Old Timers regarding the transaction. Their commitment to the property and its Scouting heritage has been an important part of this process.

Equally important, the funds received from the sale will remain dedicated to supporting Scouting in Central Maine, consistent with the applicable court ruling. These funds will be invested and managed by Pine Tree Council to provide lasting support for Scouting programs and opportunities for young people throughout the region.

Our goal has always been to protect what makes Camp Bomazeen special while ensuring that Scouting in Central Maine has the resources to grow and thrive.

We appreciate the many volunteers, alumni, families, and supporters who have cared about Camp Bomazeen over the years.

Camp Bomazeen’s legacy will continue, and so will our commitment to the young people of Central Maine.

Thank you for your continued support of Scouting.
